3D Food Printing- a Growing Industry and Marketing Potential

What is the hot, evolving area? This rapid growth of 3D printed food is not just a novelty, but it could start playing a real role in mainstream food manufacturing and consumption.

Exactly what is 3D food printing?  According to foodindustry.com 3D printing is a process that utilizes 3D printer technology to create edible products and meals from raw ingredients like chocolates, cheese, doughs, gels, or even pureed fruit and vegetables.  They further added that it works by layering the food materials to create a 3D shape.

3.      Florida launches probe into Campbell’s Claims

Do you like Campbell’s Soup?  Did you know that Campbell Executive’s leaked an audio?  In the audio recording, according to dailymail.co.uk,  the employee has a suit against Campbell. You can hear the Vice President and Chief information Security Officer allegedly stating the soup is for poor people, he does not hardly by Campbell’s products anymore, and that the meat is bioengineered. Yet a spokesperson is claiming the soup meets USDA approval and that they do not use antibiotics. They further added that Florida banned lab-grown meat in 2024 primarily to protect traditional agriculture and family farms, citing concerns about the industry disrupting livestock markets.

4.       What are Building Blocks of 3D Printed Foods?

Some food links that are included in 3D Printed Foods include materials like mashed potatoes, carrot puree, or avocado and are often blended with hydrocolloids (e.g. xanthan gum, agar), tempered chocolate and sugar-based mixtures are popular for their ease of melting and rapid solidification, and dehydrated foods (e.g., milk powder, vegetable powder) can be rehydrated during printing, a technique pioneered for space applications.   This is talked about at be-cu.com.

 

5.      3-D Printed Desserts

Can you actually eat 3-D Printed Desserts?   According to nsf.gov/science-matters advances in technology have enabled researchers to print novel foods and that food printing technology has existed since 2005. They further added that a research team in Lipson’s lab experimented with 3D printing of different types of vegan cheesecake.  The team did not use cream cheese, instead tested various recipe designs using seven key ingredients:   graham crackers, peanut butter, Nutella, banana puree, strawberry jam, cherry drizzle and frosting.

 

6.      Have You Eaten Plant-Based Foods?

Have you tried plant-based foods?  A plant-based diet includes not only fruits and vegetables, but also nuts, seeds, oils, whole grains, legumes, and beans.  Heaalth.harvard.edu talks about this.   They stated that plant-based diets such as the Mediterranean diet has shown to reduce risk of heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers (specifically colon, breast, and prostate cancer, depression, and in older adults, a decreased risk of frailty, along with better mental and physical function.

They further added that Vegetarian diets might include eggs, dairy foods, occasional meat, poultry, fish and seafood.  I recall my daughter was a vegetarian and I ate a dish that she made.  I was surprised that it was very tasty and not at all what I had expected. 

 

7.      Fast-Food Restaurants Offering Plan-Based Foods

Were you aware that fast-food restaurants are offering Plant-Based Options?

Burger King -offers the impossible burger

California Pizza Kitchen- offers a Veggie Pizza and Tostada Thin Crust that can be easily made plant-based.

Cheesecake factory- offers vegan cobb salad.

Del Taco- offers meatless options that includes burritos an tacos.

Little Caesars- has released its plant-based pepperoni.

Panda Express -offers Veggie Spring Rolls and Chow Mein.

Panera Bread -offers Mediterranean grain bowl, Greek salad, Starbucks offers the Impossible Breakfast Sandwich- an alternative to a sausage egg and cheese.

Wendy’s- recently launched their Spicy Black Bean Burger.

Although I have not tried any of these.   They sound very tasty.  I will have to try in the future though. Health.Harvard.edu talks about this.

Possibly you want to try a plant-based diet, and you do not necessarily like to cook.   Did you know that you can have plant-based foods delivered to your door?   Yes, you can just sit back, relax, and eat.    SmartCart is just a kind of grocery technology that helps you save time and eat healthy.  You can personalize meal plans and groceries.  Health.usnews.com talks about this.   They further added that you get a gift with each order.  Having it delivered to your door is very convenient.   There is also a small cost involved.   They suggest taking the quiz so they can analyze your preferences.   This is just another alternative if you are one that does not want to cook.  I do not mind cooking, but this alternative does sound very tempting.

Incredible Winter Staycations In Michigan

Possibly you feel that you can not afford a vacation. If that is the case you might want to consider a staycation. Staycations are awesome.

1. Staycation

You might ask, “What exactly is a staycation.” A staycation is a vacation that might be spent in your country, state, city, or even in your own home. You may determine where you want to stay.


2. Hotels

Have you considered just going to a hotel in your city possibly just for the weekend? Maybe to there for a couple staycation.    There you can be pampered. There may be no need to cook, even though hotels do have kitchen amenities now. Hotels now even have areas and events geared just for children. So you are able to take the entire family.


3. Frankenmuth Waterpark, 1365 South Main Street, Frankenmuth, Michigan 48734, (844) 296-5197 and Soaring Eagle Waterpark, 5665 E. Pickard R. Mt. Pleasant, Mi 48858, in Michigan




Although I have been to both Frankenmuth and Soaring Eagle Splash-pads, both are very nice, but I like the Frankenmuth Splash pad much better. It is larger also. I like that the pools are heated. This is a plus. I was, however, surprised to see as many adults in the water as children. While at Soaring Eagle you might decide to make it a spa staycation. That is available there. When staying at the hotel in Soaringeagle Waterpark you will receive free passes for the splash-pad. I believe that is a plus. They have special event packages as well for the holidays. Both Waterparks have arcades available for children. I was really impressed upon my last visits there. In the event that you do not want to go in the water there is plenty of room around the pool with chairs to just sit and observe your children.


4. Romantic Getaway in Mackinaw Island

What about a romantic staycation getaway in Mackinaw Island? I have never been there, but I was almost there the first time my husband and I were supposedly traveling to Kentucky to see his mother. Neither of us could read a map. I just knew to go 75. Turned out that we were going the wrong way on 75. We were going North instead of South. My husband who was from the South still did not have a clue, but when I saw the sign saying Mackinaw Island I knew we were going the wrong direction. Thank God for the GPS (Global Positioning System) which was not invented at that time. I sure wish we could have used it then. Michigan.org., talks about Mackinaw Island which has horse-drawn carriages because automobiles are strictly prohibited.


5. Winter Disc Golf

Hey all you golfers out there. Have you tried winter Disc Golf. This is talked about at Michigan.gov as one of winter’s least expensive hobbies. They further add that glow-in-the-dark discs are available and because tees are not cleared and snow removal does not happen on the course, you may want to bring a small shovel. Exactly what is disc golf? Pdga.com explains disc golf as being played much like golf except, instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc. Holly Recreation Area, 8100 Grange Hall Road, Holly, Mi. 48442, is just one of the areas in Michigan that has disc golf courses.


6. Tawas, Michigan

Some free events in Tawas Michigan include the Polar Bear Swim, Murder Mystery Dinner, Chili Cook-off, and hospitality. February 3-5. US at Perchville USA in Tawas, Mi. This is according to justshortof crazy.com.


7. Christmas at the Crossroads- Drive through lighting, 6140 Bray Road, Flint, Mi 48505

This is one of my favorites. I have been to this place numerous times. The great thing about this is how inexpensive it is to drive through and see the beautiful lighting. You never leave your car. The cost is only $10 per vehicle, not per person. How nice is that. The dates are December 16,2024-December 24, 2404, 5 pm to 9 pm. The lights are just awesome. This is a must see that you will never forget. Your little ones will just be fascinated with all the different lighting. I believe that I enjoy it more than the children do.


8. Watching Movies Together

My daughter shared with me that the new norm for her children were to watch a movie together online. She shared that they have friends all over the states that they talk to on a regular basis. Also, children now are gaming online with each other all over the states as well.

I do know that during the Pandemic there was much sharing and talking Face to Face online. I believe that still has continued. There are those that would prefer talking Face to Face on their cellphones and because of technology they are able to do so. There is so much activity done online now including socializing. That is a great thing about technology. It is also great that we were able to do that during the Pandemic to keep the communication open between everyone.


9. Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, 25 Christmas Lane, Frankenmuth, Michigan

Did you know that Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland Stores is one of the largest stores in Michigan? That is according to Michigan.org., They further added that Bronner’s is the size of one and a half football fields with over 50,000 trims and gifts. I recall going there on a field trip with my grandchild. It was amazing. There is such an abundance of Christmas items. There is just so much to see. I also love that traveling to Bronner’s is a delight. The lighting as you travel to the store is amazing during the Christmas time. It is a beautiful sight to see. There are so many different styles and varieties of Christmas ornaments. There at Bronner’s you will also see steins, angels, religious gifts, gift cards, artificial trees pre-lit and unlit. You name it and Bronner’s has it.

Thanksgiving Celebrations Around the World

When Thanksgiving arrives, what will you be thankful for?   Are you aware that not all countries celebrate Thanksgiving?   Have you heard of global gratitude?

1.      The Netherlands

Did you know that the Netherlands celebrate Thanksgiving because before settlers even set foot on United State land, they rested in Leiden- a city in the Netherlands before completing their journey.   The pioneerwoman.com further added the Netherlands take the day to meet in Pieterskerk, a staple church in the country, to honor the efforts of those who helped start the voyage to America.

 

2.      In America

Thanksgiving Celebration in America is almost a 400-Year-Old Tradition.  Visittheusa.com further added that people eat large amounts of turkey, the President Pardons a turkey, people shop ‘til they drop, and people travel to visit their families.  I also have observed some families do not do the traditional turkey eating, but rather eat ham, tacos, or other non-traditional meals.  There are those that do not even like turkey.   There are those that have traditional Thanksgiving Service at church for Thanksgiving also.

 




3.      Viet Nam

Thanksgiving in Viet Nam is celebrated on the 15th of the eighth luna cycle around the end of September or the Start of October.   The Tet-Trung-Thu Festival coincides with the end of harvest and because parents were so busy working in the months ahead, the festival was started as a way to show appreciation to the children, showering them with love and holding a candlelit procession at dawn in their honor. 4.       Liberia

Liberia shares the holiday timing with American Thanksgiving with church services followed by auctions of fruit baskets filled with papayas and mangoes.   Instead of turkey, Liberian Thanksgiving tables feature spicy roast chicken, mashed cassava, and traditional dishes like jollof rice.Crystal-travel.com talks about this.   They further state it is a lively occasion marked by food, music, dancing, and a deep sense of community.

 

5.      Norfolk Island

Have you heard of Norfolk Island?  According to History.com Norfolk Island is a remote Island in the Pacific Ocean with Thanksgiving tradition that dates back to the mid-1890’s.  Parishioners on the island celebrate the holiday today bringing fruits, vegetables and cornstalks to decorate the church and singing American hymns on the last Wednesday of November each year.

 

6.     Thanksgiving Trivia

Have you thought about playing Thanksgiving Trivia this Thanksgiving with your family?  Below are listed a few trivia questions for you found at Goodhousekeeping.com:

a.      What Christmas song was originally written for Thanksgiving?  Jingle Bells is known as a Christmas song, it was originally written for Thanksgiving.  James Lord Pierpont wrote the song and it was first performed for a Thanksgiving service at his family member’s church.

 

b.     How Many Feathers Does an Adult Turkey Have?  An adult turkey has about 3500 feathers.

 

c.     Where did the tradition of breaking the wishbone come from?   The tradition of breaking the wishbone came from Italy.  It is said to date back to around 800 BCE, to an ancient Italian civilization known as the Etruscans.   They would dry the chicken bones and then touch them (not break them) for good luck.  At the time, Etruscans believed that birds were oracles capable for foreseeing the future, so by touching their bones, people could manifest good things for their own futures.  Countryliving.com notes that the Romans adopted the custom of the wishbone; rather than simply touching it, they would compete to break it apart. The person who ended up with the larger portion was thought to have their wish granted.  Now that is what I remember as a little girl.  Making a wish and attempting to break off the larger portion of the wishbone.

 

d.     The Final Trivia Question is What president refused to declare Thanksgiving a holiday?  The answer is Thomas Jefferson.  His reasoning was that he believed firmly in the separation of church and state.  Since Thanksgiving involved prayer and reflection, he thought designating it as a national holiday would violate the First Amendment.  He also thought it was better suited as a state holiday, not a federal one.

 

 

7.      Does Europe Celebrate Thanksgiving?

Europe does not officially celebrate Thanksgiving and there is no national Thanksgiving holiday, but the spirit of gathering and gratitude is still alive in various forms.  En.homes.com talks about this.   They further added that in rural areas of Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, communities hold Erntedankfest which is a traditional harvest festival in September or October, depending on the region.

 

8.      Poland

Does Poland celebrate Thanksgiving?  Poland’s Thanksgiving or harvest is called Dozynki and was started in the 16th century according to en.homes.com.  This originally was a time for landowners to show gratitude and share the bounty of the harvest with the workers who helped grow the crops.   The celebration was marked by dancing, feasting, and the creation of harvest wreaths, which were believed to bring fertility and blessings for the next harvest.

 

The First Thanksgiving

Do you know when the first Thanksgiving occurred?   History.com talks about this.   In November 1621, after the Pilgrims’ first corn harvest proved successful, Governor William Bradford organized a celebratory feast and invited a group of the fledgling colony’s Native American allies, including the Wampanoag chief Massaoit.  They further added that the festival lasted for three days and there is no existing record of the first Thanksgiving’s exact menu.  Because the Pilgrims had no oven and the Mayflower’s sugar supply had dwindled by the fall of 1621, the meal did not feature pies, cakes or other desserts which are so popular today at Thanksgiving dinners.

Alan Turing, a British mathematician, imagined a computing machine, but lacked the technology to prove his theory at that time.  They further added that during the summer of 1956 John McCarthy invited researchers for a summer-long workshop.  During that summer he defined the practice of human-like machines capable of human intelligence.


2.      The Universe

Are we the only ones in the universe?   Are we the smartest ones in the universe?  What is the reason that the government cannot explain alien objects seen by millions of people every year?  Is everyone hallucinating?

How many jobs will be lost because of AI (Artificial Intelligence)?   How many jobs will be created because of AI (Artificial Intelligence)? According to Forbes.com by 2030 an estimated 92 million jobs will be displaced by AI (Artificial Intelligence), but the same report indicates that 170 million new jobs will be created because of AI(Artificial Intelligence).  They also added that you should see expected growth including farm workers, delivery drivers, construction workers, salespeople and food processing workers. So, does this mean people may need to reinvent themselves to prepare for the new AI(Artificial Intelligence) jobs?

The Movie “Sweet Idleness” is a new production led by an AI (Artificial Intelligence) Agent as director, involving digital actors created from real people, and applied to the project.  According to msn.com.   They further add that this is not intended to replace traditional cinema, but rather it is an alternative method of creation.  Yet Variety.com states that the acting guild believes ‘creativity is, and should remain, human-centered and is opposed to the replacement of human performers by synthetics.  This is something to think about.  AI (Artificial Intelligence) has already been infiltrated into the schools, the hospital, the television, telephones, and much more.   Still, it is not human, and humans must oversee these applications.  Even when writing the auto-correct is not human it does not know so human intervention is needed.

 

6.     AI (Artificial Intelligence) Inventing Its Own Language

Did you know that in 2017 during a Facebook research experiment instead of AI bots sticking to proper English, the bots began modifying their speech in ways that were more efficient for them but incomprehensible to humans. Facebook researchers then ended the experiment and required the bots to use English for transparency and easier monitoring. So just know that many of the chat boxes are learning from us and adapting.

 

7.     Stocks and Bonds AI (Artificial Intelligence)

Have you purchased stocks and bonds lately?  Good news for AI (Artificial Intelligence) investors is that bond deals from Big Tech companies have been in high demand, suggesting that investors are confident in the ability of those companies to monetize AI (Artificial Intelligence) and satisfy their obligations.   Morningstar.com talks about this.  They further added that the AI (Artificial Intelligence) bubble can last for years because public pension funds, fueled by tax-receipt inflows, and insurance companies are among the biggest buyers of investment-grate corporate bonds, as they look to pick up yields that are higher than their income growth mandates.

In Genesis 5:21-24 it states that Enoch’s fathered Methuselah and Enoch walked with God for 300 years after Methuselah’s Birth.   Methuselah live to be 969 years, Genesis 5:27. According to neverthirsty.org., Jesus and the apostles never called it scripture, therefore it was not viewed as authoritative since it was not the Word of God.  What were some of the things mentioned in the book of Enoch?

The Book of Enoch (1-36) describes the Watchers—angels sent to observe humans—of whom 200 violated their orders by having relations with humans, resulting in the Nephilim race.   They further added that the watchers taught humans writing, weaponry, reading, sorcery, cosmetics, and meteorology.

4.      The Third Parable 1 Enoch 64-71

Chapters 64-69, as described by readingacts.com, cover the flood's judgment, the fallen angels' sins, and predictions of world destruction.   They further added that the flood will be a poison to the kings and princes of the world because they deny “the spirit of the Lord.”

Chapter 18 talks about Enoch’s vision of seeing stones reaching to heaven like the throne of God, alabaster, and the summit of the throne was of sapphire.  He describes witnessing a blazing fire and a vast abyss filled with columns of heavenly flames, falling without sky or solid ground, devoid of water or birds—a barren and terrifying scene.  

 

7.      How Old Was Enoch?

According to the oldest.org., he did not live quite as long as the other men on this list as he was taken by God when he was 365 years old, which makes him one of the only people other than Elijah that God took to heaven without them dying. Can you imagine living to be 365 years old? Presently people are living to 119 years today.  In fact, Kane Tanka, was one of the world’s oldest persons to die in Japan at aged 119 according to Cnn.com.  They further added that she was married to a rice shop owner at the age of 19, worked in the family store until she was 103, the second oldest person ever recorded, behind only Jeanne Calment who lived to the age of 122.  I can only imagine. 

 

8.      Was Enoch a Prophet?

Was Enoch a Prophet?   Some individuals affirm that he was indeed.  Baptist.net states Enoch foretold the future, walked with God, pleased God, and had life beyond the grave.

 

9.      Was Enoch Taken to Heaven without Dying?

Genesis 5:24 (New International Version) States that Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.  Just imagine being taken up into Heaven.

 

Enoch’s Childhood

Have you ever wondered about Enoch’s Childhood?   What was it like?   There is not a lot of mention about his Enoch’s childhood, but at age 65 he fathered Methuselah.   According to buildingfaithfamilies.org., he seemingly became a changed man.  Genesis 5:21-22. (New International Version) When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah  After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked faithfully with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters.

Sometimes having children can change people.  I remember a conversation with a friend that shared he had done drugs and misled others that followed him with the life of drugs, but after he had his first child which was a daughter he knew he had to change.   He shared when he saw his baby girl for the first time, he knew it was time to change and he did.   That was a powerful testimony that I will always remember.  It just shows what we will do for our children.   

I recall that during my upbringing, neither of my parents were involved with the church. I discovered church when I saw my neighbors taking their children to church and I wanted to go.  I wanted to see what church was about.  I started reading at age 3.   I was thirsty.   We had no books in our home.   But we did have a Bible.   I would read it.   I wanted to know more about God.  When I became an adult, I made sure to take my children to church, I wanted them to know about God and the church. I even had everyone of them dedicated to God as babies.  

Have you had children and decided you wanted to become a better person because of it?   Have you had children and decided you wanted to be the best example for them that you could?   It appears that Enoch had that sentiment when he had Methuselah.
